Global crisis, but most of all, insecurity throughout the region was to blame for the most unattended edition of Baja California Meeting Point, a Baja real estate and tourist project.
Javier Godinez Villegaz, President of the planning committee, pointed out that this year was the lowest concurred edition, even though a vast marketing campaign was executed comparable to those in high developed countries.
For the fourth consecutive year, the Baja California Meeting Point event was held in Tijuana, a destination that usually guarantees big attendance but this year failed to deliver.
Baja real estate buyers, investors and the tourist industry usually generate a large audience in these kinds of events as the people have a chance to meet with the big names both in beach front property and high level lodging up close and personal.

 The low sales that face the Baja real estate tourism market in the Gold Coast due to the financial crisis in the United States, Baja real estate developers created a group that will allow them to promote themselves as a single region.
Gustavo Torres, current President of the Camara Nacional de Desarrolladores de Vivienda, Canadevi, (National Housing Developers Board) in the Coast Zone (Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada), commented that the ‘Baja Coast Living’ project looks to bring to Baja California, United States residents, specially those who are looking to retire.
“Even though there is a financial crisis, we are making a very important investment to push the 30 tourist developments that range from Tijuana to Ensenada, because we figured that if we get organized, we can be more attractive to the market we seek”, commented.
On another statement by the Secretary of Tourism, Oscar Escobedo Carignan, he commented that investment in Baja the real estate tourism market was reactivated this year under a new frame. Baja Real Estate Developers saving funds are invested rather than the client’s down payments, because sales went down considerably since lat year.
