Saving Money with Solar Energy While increasing your Baja real estate value

When looking to increase your new Baja real estate investment sale value, going 'green' makes a lot of sense and cents. Here you'll find a few examples on how to add dollar value to your new Baja property by investing in alternative sources of energy that will save you money over the years and will also allow you to start your way into 'green friendliness'.
Overall, it is said that with solar energy, you could end up saving somewhere between 40 and 70 percent off your Mexican electrical bill, which is the total of adding what the Mexican government reimburse you back plus the energy saved. However, you must consider the starting cost for the system setup.
Energex starts at under $20,000, for it’s 2000 model of solar panels. This covers over 18 square meters of panels, installation, and is net of the credit given by the state to encourage such an energy efficient investment.
If you’re into new technological breakthroughs, maybe you heard of the ‘Tivo’ of electricity: the GridPoint Connect, an energy administrator that establishes a connection between the solar energy system and your current home electrical installation. This system uses the necessary energy and stores all the energy the system produces that is not used (from $10,999).
Solar Artifacts
Solar energy is most commonly used for heating up water, cooling, climate control, and lighting for both indoors and outdoor use. Here are some examples:
Attic Fans: With easy installation and without electrical consumption,
they present themselves as a solution for keeping your home fresh and
humidity free. The most advanced, like the Solar Star from Solatube
International, works continuously with solar rays and can ventilate an
area of 118.48 sq. mts. (1200 sq. ft.) for just $399 dollars.
Exterior Lights: One of the reasons a lot of people do not install
lights in their home garden it’s to avoid investing in more electrical
connections and the fact that outdoor electrical installations are
always more complicated and more dangerous. But solar garden lights are
not only very economical, because of their zero electrical consumption,
but have the great commodity of not using cables nor any type of
wiring, therefore, they can be installed by the homeowners themselves.
Malibu Lights, for example, can be installed in about an hour and you
can get them in stores such as Home Depot, Lowes and even Wal-Mart. One
thing to keep in mind before installing these, is to make sure they get
plenty of sunlight where you place them, as their lighting
rate is directly proportional to the amount of time they spent exposed
to the sun rays during the day. You can count on the fact that there is plenty of sunshine in Baja California during the year.
Air heaters: They have the advantage of not freezing, so they
can be used in cooler areas. They come in various forms and sizes, so you are sure to find a model that can match your Baja home decor. The
Cansolair firm has many models; one of them is the Air Max, which
renews the air of a 92.90 sq. mts. (1000 sq. ft.) home completely in
less than two hours. The ratio between solar light and effective
heating is 15 to 1, in other words, 15 minutes of sun will maintain the
house temperature for an hour. Plus, they can increase the temperature
up to 55 Fahrenheit degrees (The Alternative Energy Store, $1,823).
Water Heaters: According to the experts from The Alternative Energy
Store, it’s a long term investment that you will get back right after
five years, but if you live in the south or in dryer climates with
plenty of sunshine, like here in Rosarito Beach, Baja California for instance, you could save
between 50 and 80 percent of your home energy consumption with a solar
heater, and this is without taking into account discounts offered by
some states to those who implement systems of reusable energy (systems
go from $1,700 to $3,000 dollars).
But this is not all; you can get all sorts of gadgets that feed off of the sun, like security cameras for under $300 dollars. Global Star Oven makes an
oven for just $189.95 that cooks without the necessity of flames or
electricity, but instead uses a reflector panel that bounces solar rays into
the oven! While Sundance Solar makes a portable camping shower that heats up water in just 3 hours using sun rays for only $14.95.
Taking advantage of Baja’s abundance of natural resources, such as solar energy, is very interesting to many of Baja’s home buyers and builders. Further, when it is for the good of the planet, as well as our pockets, it is even more interesting.
Keep in mind that investing in a few of these ‘green’ alternatives for your Baja home or property can not only save you money, but these improvements will also increase the value of your Baja home, and will make your home more marketable to potential buyers. Views: 1583
