AXA to Provide Terrorist Insurance Coverage in Mexico

Xavier Bellefon - AXA InsuranceAcquiring insurance for terrorist acts is now possible in Mexico. French insurance company Axa announced that it will be offering insurance policies with these types of plans.

In other countries, it informed, it is the big companies and the government which acquire the product. Costs vary in accordance to the size of the businesses.

Axa’s General Director, Xavier Bellefon, stated that the firm is already offering the service in Spain and in the United States. He commented that if Axa didn’t have these plans it would be as if Acapulco wouldn’t have hurricane insurance.

The insurance company closed yesterday its acquisition of ING México for $1.5 billion, one of Mexico’s most popular insurance companies. Bellefon assured Axa will respect existing contracts so that current clients will need not to worry for the takeover.
